Get up and Do...

There are many times in life when we decide that we are simply comfortable with our lives and have just fallen into that same old going through the motions routine. There is nothing wrong with having a regular routine for your day to day activities such as going to work, coming home, eating, sleeping, etc etc... These are obviously all essential parts of every one's life. I am talking about getting up and doing something that is not part of your norm. It doesn't matter if it's a weekday or not, just change something up every now and then to keep your mind and body active. Instead of sitting down and watching TV for 2-3 hours at night, go out for  a walk around the block. Go to a park and take a soccer ball or football with you. Or if you are not a big outdoors person, go to the mall and walk around there. If you take someone with you, it will make the activity much more enjoyable. If no one wants to go, then just do it yourself and take an iPod, the more you do it eventually your family will notice a change for the better and they will want to come along.

I suggest choosing a place/activity that is outside the house, there is nothing wrong with doing some type of activity within the house, it is just that a change of scenery does wonders for a person's mind. That being said, if you are always out of the house and constantly "doing," then try staying in a couple of nights and doign some type of activity at home. An active body/mind is healthy, but an overactive body/mind can have a reverse effect.

You do not have to do something every night, just try once or twice a week. It is a real stress reliever because for that moment you are not worrying about your day to day worries and situations, you are just enjoying the time out. In our ever so busy lives, it is important to take an hour and just get up and do something that will help you relax. Stress is a huge cause of many physical and mental problems and if all it takes is going out and doing something different to reduce your stress a couple of notches, then you have just made your life a little easier.
